1950 U.S.A. Post Card Rates Go Up to 2 cents

February 9th: A majority has been reached among the members of the United States House of Representatives regarding the hike in postal rates. As a result of a voice vote made on this day, a bill was passed which had raised the rate of postal card rates from one to two cents. Regular letter rates would stay at three cents.

February 9th: President Kennedy asked Congress to approve a health insurance program ( The Medicare Program ) for 14.2 million Americans 65 or older, financed by an increase in Social Security taxes.

1964 U.S.A. The Beatles

February 9th: For the first time ever, the popular music group the Beatles had appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Shortly afterwards, they played their first American concert at the Coliseum.

The Beatles had come a long way-literally. They originated from London, England, and were told that they “could not carry a tune across the Atlantic”. In the early days they were thought of to be no more than a fad. That, of course, was proven wrong many times over.

February 9th: The legendary Russian Chess Grandmaster Kasparov loses his first chess game ever to IBM’s chess computer Deep Blue. He did go on to gain three wins and two draws and easily wins the match.

2012 U.S.A.  Taylor Hicks

February 9th:  Taylor Hicks will take time out of his busy schedule to host a live chat with his fans.  And, boy, do we have questions to ask!  When is the new CD going to drop? When will the new tour start? In which city? Is Evansville, Indiana, one of the stops on the list? Patriots or Giants? Will you be performing on Idol this year? Any movie roles, TV shows or Broadway in his future? And the never-before asked question: Boxers or briefs? On a side note, we’re hoping he will, again, consume a small quantity of beer to add an extra lively dimension to the chat.  :-)

    With that face, I doubt Carrie had any desendents. :lol: Funny thing is , a few years ago when I was working on the family tree, I found an in law married to someone with the same name. I cracked up.
    You never heard of her? I suppose she is better known here since she did a good deal of her smashing in Kansas. :lol:

    Great post Chill, it may be an historic night. But won’t the super bowl be over, or maybe not. I’m not sure when it is.
    I don’t know if I have any questions, I just want to hear him ramble. I think hes going to have some things to tell.

    haha I went and read that biography of Carrie and there was a lot in there I didn’t know. She really came from a strange family. Theres a well known pic of her when she was older and she was a mean looking lady, probably didn’t look so bad in her younger days.
    You had to laugh at her memorial fountain being ran over by a beer truck. :-)

    Henry, LOL, I remember my brother when telling me about the “clubs” he said the locals had told him the stories of “Carrie Nation” ( I remembered the Carrie didn’t remember the last name until I saw your post) who used to chop down all the bars and thats why they were made private to keep her out!! Figured there was alot more to the story than what he told me.

    What flaw? Oh, the super bowl? I really wasn’t sure, never did look to see what the date was. Just seemed like it should be over by then. I’m sorry. :lol:

    Hmmm JI Made private to keep her out? Would that have stopped her? :lol: Maybe she did have something to do with some of the wierd liquor laws we have had. Never thought of that. Mostly think going private was just a way to get around some of the dumb laws.
    My DIL graduated from Emporia too JI, haven’t been there in a long time, it was and still is a well known teachers college. but it always seems out of the way to get there. Doesn’t sit close to the main highways.

    Someone posted that it was fun just to keep quiet at the chats and watch Taylor roll his eyes and poke fun at some of the questions and lewd comments. :lol:
    I’m thinking instead of questions I’ll just think of comments. :lol:

    Good info Chill. I think Medicare didn’t go into effect until 1965 or 66. I had a relative who had a simple hernia operation in 1967, but because she was 66 and on medicare, she stayed in the hospitol for 2 wks. Believe it or not they had a special hospitol wing where the elderly lived when they were not 100% ready to go back home on their own. It was like a luxury hotel and the patients went to buffet meals. There were all these posh lounge chairs in a giant hotel like lobby where you sat and visted with the patients. Most all of those patients didn’t even require an aspirin much less stronger meds. I’ll always remember that and the patients could wear regular clothes. So obviously Medicare was sold with a bill of goods, and those first years of medicare were like a dream come true for those 65+. Then I guess all the paper work creeped in and medicare fraud and more expensive drugs and prices rose, and now one probably gets tossed out the door, less than 24 hrs. after a hernia operation.

    I just notice Sahara is laughing over taking a hillbilly out for vegan food. I bet I know who.

    Henry, Guess thats what the locals had told him about her. The college was a beautiful campus always felt very safe when i went out to visit him. His one friend that we grew up with, flunked out the first semester there, he was the first in his family to graduate HS let alone go on to college,folks were from Italy, never told them he flunked out. Told his parents to send his tuition checks to him which they did. He partied for 4 yrs when graduation time came he talked some girl in the office to give him a blank diploma, he signed it Edwin E Newman. The whole family came out for the graduation, even the uncle who is a Priest in the Vatacan came. He ran across the stage when they got to the last names that began with “F”. Just re-hooked up with him on FB asked him if he ever told them he didn’t graduate, said nope the diploma hangs in the Living room with blessed palms over it, they never figured it out. He has done quite well for himself was a construction manager for many years now owns several resturants in Fla.

    Rosie, wonder what hillbilly she was talking about, LOL!! I didn’t know that about medicare when it first started, wow.

    tish, I don’t remember that either. I couldn’t eat tofu either, whenever I hear tofu i think of the show Everybody Loves Raymond when Marie made a tofu turkey to be more healthy, it was a really funny episode.

    I remember that video. I remember getting mad at that guy doing the interview because he seemed to be trying to put Taylor down. The one I was talking about Taylor was being interviewed and talked about missing the food back home. I think David was there too, not sure, but I do remember the remark about the tofu ham sandwich. :D

    According to the tweet from Sahara, Taylor gobbled up the vegan food on his trip to LA recently. LOL, guess he got used to it since he’s been there so much. It was good to read that Taylor got to catch up with Elliott this time and Elliott even tweeted about it with the hashtag #LOVE. I think he realizes that he found a friend with a heart of gold during AI. :)

    tish, yeah that guy interviewed him a few times and had a bit of an attitude with him.

    So glad Taylor and Elliot got to hook up during his trip there. they seemed like they really connected when they were on the show and a lasting friendship formed. Went through my T stuff remembered there was a pic of Taylor & Elliot during the Idol tour in OK magazine I scanned it:

    I remember that video, if you watch Taylor it kind of looks like hes looking daggers at that guy. The interviewer was more or less an ass.
    Elliott was wishing Taylor could stay longer, sounds like he did stay a little longer.
    And there are some people on twitter that REALLY need to mind their own damn business. sheesh. I can not believe some of the things they say.

    Tay probably has the most Moe look ever in that vid with David Radnor. It is clean and shiny but all combed forward and slicked down, which makes it far worse than how it looked when he auditioned. Taylor looked pissed when the guy asked him who he was trying to imitate. I for one like how Taylor has worn his hair since Grease. It allows his handsome face to show and showcases his eyes.

    JI Happy Birthday to your daughter. Time does fly. My son and DIL want to book me a flight to visit them in CA for easter. Easter is I believe Apr. 8th this yr. At first I thought, I just saw them, but that was early July! I see the dentist more often than that.

    Chill, Her and Steph were cleaning up the mess from the night before but the guys were still going strong, LOL! They were playing beer pong.

    Article in the paper today about one of my brothers good friends who has done well in the music industry. He gradutated the year before Kevin but they were and are still good friends. Can remember when I was still in HS he opened his first recording studio in town, he was just 20, one the first bands he had there was the Grateful Dead, my brother bought me over and I got to meet them:

    Chill, Its amazing how many from my home town have done well in the music industry and acting careers, don’t personally know all of them, but know brothers/sisters or cousins that I went to school with. My brother and I were at the Dead concert in ’77 at Englsihtown. I only stayed for the concert, I was leaving for a business trip to Chicago the next day and had to get back to and pack, a limo was picking me up at noon and I had nothing ready, LOL :) Sorry can’t help you out with Kevin C or Keanu R, they aren’t locals! Sorry you have to work today, hope its not an all day thing!

    Cool pictures JI. I don’t think I have any pictures from my youth, ha!

    We had a great time last night. DH and I went to see Keb Mo in concert at the Austin City Limits Moody Theater in downtown Austin. Anders Osborn opened up for Keb. It was a great concert and the theater is wonderful! We were in the mezzanine and had front row seats in our section but all the seats were good. There’s not a bad seat in the house. The people there were so nice. They told everyone that if we wanted to go down to the floor and stand to get closer to the stage we could and then return to our seats if we wanted. There were bars at each side of the theater downstairs and upstairs. This was our first time there. We walked right past the theater at first because there’s no marquee out front. The gallery on the second floor is so cool. There are big photos of lots of the great musicians that have played there. Six years ago, before discovering Taylor, I wouldn’t have known some of those people. I really hope to see his picture up there some day.

    Anders Osborn didn’t have any other band members and played a 6 song acoustic set. He is really good but seemed a lot more country than I expected. But he did come out during the encore of Keb’s part and play slide guitar. He still sounds very “country” to me when singing. Oh and he is funny too! :D

    Keb…what can I say?! The man is filled with joy! He dances the whole time he is playing….. sound like someone else we know? ;) By the 2nd half of the show he had the whole crowd on the floor dancing. Believe me, there were probably a lot of lucky guys that brought their girls there for the concert…..Keb had the ladies swooning, ha!! If you ever get a chance to go see him in concert, don’t hesitate. His show is like a big party! Oh and he has a wonderful band too. :)

    Pictures I have, someday I’ll go through them and orgainize them. In the pic of me at the party, the guy to my left actually saved my life a year or two before that. We had one of those freak snow storms that quickly went into blizzard status. I was at work and the office finally closed after there was over a foot of snow on the ground. I left and was lucky to get behind a line of snow plows, followed them down the mountain. Made the left to take to my house, but the car skidded out of control flipped and went down and enbankment. My Dad called the office to tell me to stay put that him and Kevin would come and get me, but I had left already. The guy in the pic Hoch had a 4 wheel drive jeep at the time. Kevin called him and they set out to try and find me. They came down the side of the mountain I had come down made the same left and Hoch thought he saw red lights in the snow, they back tracked and found me. If it hadn’t been for him and his jeep they may not have found me. Luckily I wasn’t hurt bad mostly bumps and bruises.

    tish, It was very scary, I was trapped the way the car landed I couldn’t open the driver’s door and couldn’t get to the passengers door. Did alot of crying and soul searching, I was trapped over 2 hours before Hoch saw the red in the snow. It was dark by that time how he ever noticed it I’ll never know, he said when he made the turn the way his headlight caught the embankment he just saw something red and they went back.

    I will go see Keb Mo the next time he’s in Chicago. I love his music. I saw him at the HOB on stage with Taylor and really enjoyed that! In fact, Keb Mo is the one who tipped us off to head to Buddy Guy’s that night. He was signing my ticket stub, got in an SUV, off it went, off we went. We didn’t follow him, but we noticed the SUV in the parking lot at Buddy Guy’s and knew something good was going to happen there. LOL

    Not much from my area. We tend more toward the infamous. :lol:

    A lawnmower? You are keeping a positive thought about spring coming soon. You might need a snowblower first.

    A friend of mine is moving to an apartment in Chicago, so she’s downsizing. I pay for lawn service, so I thought what the hell, may as well give it a try when the time comes. I don’t need a snowblower, LOL, I have a service for that and that’s never going to change. ha!! I think I can handle the lawn. We’ll see. :-)

    haha its some kind of bass harmonica. Not really made to be played all by itsself I don’t think. You can find them on youtube.
    Am I the only person in the world that just cannot listen to Van Morrison. I was just trying to on youtube. I can’t do it.
    He has written some of the best songs ever, but I don’t think I have ever heard a more annoying voice. I have to find the song by someone else in order to listen to it.

    No I don’t think Taylor would want one of those shirts. Those are cheap, ugly colored things. Altogether different than the western style beautiful design that he wore. But what is the grass looking thing that one guy is wearing? Pants, skirt,? What??
    And the looks on their faces cracked me up.

    Henry, Your right about NJ & Pa having many people in the business. I’m on the site from my hometown alot, we get talking about alot of things from when we were younger, like milk being delivered, a truck that delivered breads, and snacks, while talking Kelly Preston came on and joined the conversation, shes a little younger than me but remembered the delivery trucks, so its cool when they pop in and join with us.

    Those guys playing those harps nothing appealing, LOL. Good lord don’t think T would wear one like those!! :) The grassy thing looks like those riding pants the cowboys used to wear back in the day.

    I think I do remember him doing a bit of “A Rose in Spanish Harlem”, think it may have been at a show he did during the Grease run, not sure.

    Taylor sang a bit of Rose in Spanish Harlem at the end of Georgia at Smith’s Olde Bar back during the shadow tour of the AI tour in 2006. I watched that one over and over.

    parleyblue/henry, I don’t love Van’s voice but over the past 6 years it’s grown on me and I guess it’s like an old friend now when I listen. Van is the one I turn to when I need soothing.

    Oh Lord, tish, he doesn’t soothe me at all. Just the opposite. He gives me a nervous, skin crawling feeling and its a shame because I love his songs. Some of the greatest songs ever. But his voice is like chalk on a blackboard to me. I think it was worse when he was young. Not as bad now as then.
    For soothing I go to The Deal by Taylor Hicks. Most soothing sound ever to me.

    tish, Knew I heard him sing it, just couldn’t remember when I heard him sing it. Thought maybe NY when he accpeted the Grease role and sang NY State of Mind might have been around then. Glad you remembered!! :)

    Not a big fan of Van’s voice either but he did write some fantasic songs.

    Smiths Olde Bar was classic. Someone was so kind as to send me the whole thing but I haven’ listened to the whole thing for awhile. I must do that.
    I’ll never forget the discussion over whether he was drinking or not. :lol: Maybe if he had fell out of the chair they would have been convinced. But I loved it , he can’t help but be good no matter what.

    I remember all the discussion about this performance, drinking, probably some, it was a bar after all, I’ve also heard that he was very sick that night, but to me it really doesn’t matter. When I first saw it I really didn’t know what to make of the performance, but I was deeply moved. I had never really seen anyone give a performance that was a stream of consciousness before. But I can say one thing for sure, the harmonica solo in the middle of the song can still make me cry and I very, very rarely cry.

    The thing I remember about the Smiths Old Bar discussion was there were a few that just didn’t believe he was drinking or anything. He was channeling if I remember right or something like that. But yes, that just letting it flow was a great performance.
    There was an interview of some kind not so terribly long ago where Smiths was mentioned and Taylor said he might have had a little too much to drink the last time he was there.
    But hes a good boy now. :lol:

    You girls have been talking up a storm. I’ll weigh in to say he does seem he was high in that Smiths vid. I never saw it before znd when I went to utube I also watched Hell Of A Day from that same night. I’m a fan of how Ray Charles sang “Georgia”. I don’t care for Taylor’s drawn out versions of it and that one at Smith’s takes the cake. It almost seemed he forgot for a few seconds where he was.

    Saw Keb Mo last night! Was a good show! Also loved Anders Osborne’s short acoustic set before Keb. I’ve seen him rock out with a full band; as part of the large group Voice of the Wetlands; a small acoustic group at Jazz Fest. This was the first time to see him all alone. He was really great!

    He has said he had friends there that night he had not seen in awhile and he had a few drinks plus little sleep. Nothing more than that. Didn’t mean to start that up again, I assumed all had seen it many times. If you watch the whole show, it was great. I loved that version of Georgia where he just gets lost in the song and the harp part in it was one of his best.
    One of my favorite shows.

    Taylor looks like he having a great time recording. He really looks good.

    I have not caught up here yet, but just did see a comment above about Taylor at Smiths. Yes, he was very relaxed to say the least. Sort of like the FloraBama last September. Feeling Alright as they say. :)

    I was about to go to bed and Chill tweeted (as did 4 others) that they would watch the Keb Mo vids tomorrow. I decided to put them up here to make it easier for everyone to watch them if they want. LOL

    There are 3 vids, 4 songs. WHOLE songs, which is a record for me. Heck, I hardly ever even get ONE whole song. :) He was really good. I love the 4 I picked, though when I first started taping I was disappointed it was Enchilada. Not that I don’t like it, it’s just the one song that I’ve heard a lot. I wish I had taped some of Anders Osborne too.

    i never was able to vote more than once. I think we sould be surprised to know who all was voting for Taylor. The man did have a very big fan base when he was on idol. It was never just the SP or the GC posters.

    NASHVILLE—Novel Nashville song-plugging group Chicks With Hits may be made up of competing publishers, but there are no ruffled feathers when one of its 20 all-female members scores a hit.

    The Chicks, were formed in 1999 by DreamWorks Publishing creative manager Abbey Nameche and Song Garden Music’s Kim Jones. They have collectively landed country cuts for the likes of Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Jo Dee Messina, Lonestar, and George Strait. The team was also the only “plugging group” that Garth Brooks met with during his extensive song search for his new Capitol Nashville album, Scarecrow.

    “Right now, I think people are treating a song more like a debit check,” Brooks says. “But these girls don’t do that. Their passion kills me—I hope they’re the future of this business.”

    The Chicks—whose membership is based on the quality and breadth of their song catalogs and the strength of their industry relationships—take turns presenting songs from their respective catalogs to artists, producers, and A&R executives.

    “We decided early on that this wasn’t going to be a group for beginners,” member Janie West of RBI Entertainment recalls. While the women do not share publishing profits, each one contributes modest annual dues toward business entertainment expenses and such droll marketing materials as their logo of a Rockettes-like line of dancing chicks.

    And while the members sacrifice the undivided attention they would get from an artist when pitching songs as individuals, the benefits of group plugging allow them to stay current overall.

    “As a publisher, you don’t often get to hear what’s in somebody else’s catalog until it’s out on the radio,” explains Nameche. Additionally, as Jones points out, a plugging group promises lesser-known publishers strength in numbers.

    “When Abbey and I were discussing it,” Jones says, “we were both in new companies. Nobody knew our catalogs. Had we not been in the group, we couldn’t have gotten artist meetings at that time.” BMG Music Publishing VP Karen Conrad adds that the group’s commitment to merging independents with majors “helps the A&R people, producers, and artists realize that the smaller, independent companies are worthy of their attention.”

    But the primary advantage of Chicks meetings for artists and their reps is efficiency. Those seeking songs can hear much more material in this format than they could in meetings with individual publishers. For a singer or producer with one free afternoon in town, this is time well spent. And beyond the consolidation of time and effort, Chicks meetings reflect true collaboration that focuses on servicing the artist.

    “This is a group that works together before the meeting starts,” producer Trace Adkins producer Trey Bruce says. “I can tell that they put time into talking about what their plan is and how they’re going to make a difference.”

    Like many A&R reps, RCA Nashville director of A&R Renee Bell meets with Chicks members individually as well as with the group but feels that the simple peer pressure of the group setting “raises the bar” for everyone. “They’re competing in front of each other,” Bell says, “so they really have to do their homework.”

    Presenting songs together also elicits specific tips. “Yesterday, I noted an artist’s positive response to a wordy song pitched by someone else,” recalls member Dianne Petty of CDP Music Group. “Now I know I can bring him songs like that in the future. I wouldn’t have learned that from what I pitched that day.”

    The all-female Chicks meetings are valued by both male and female artists. Their opinionated but characteristically female approach, notes Brooks, “doesn’t push you over.” “We have a shorthand with each other,” adds Pam Tillis, further noting the educational aspect of the group’s reactions to the songs being plugged. “If a song’s making me feel it, and making all of them feel it, then that tells me something.”

    But sensitivity in a Chick does not preclude constructive silliness, observes Allison Jones, head of A&R at DreamWorks Records, who finds that the group’s zany marketing schemes make doing business more fun. “They dress up on holidays and deliver thematic CDs—drinking songs on St. Patrick’s Day, love songs on Valentine’s Day,” Jones says. “One time, they were in chicken outfits, which was hysterical.”

    This element of fun is a welcome antidote to the competitiveness of the current music publishing scene in Nashville. “I think our camaraderie helps compensate for the state our business is in,” Tracy Gershon of High Seas Music says. Big Picture Entertainment’s Judy Harris shares Gershon’s view: “Nothing mattered until the money got big, and then people started thinking, ‘We can’t be happy for each other because that would mean I’m losing money.’ And that’s so sad.”

    Well, I think we all know that the chances of Simon wanting him for the job are probably less than a snowball in hell. For Taylor, hes got plenty of other things to think about at the moment but if the price and the exposure was right he would probably do it. But thats not really the point. The idea was to show that there are a good many people interested in him and who would like to see him on it. He got more attention than many there and I think most of the online fanbase only voted once and some not at all.

    Henry, If nothing else it will show Simon Taylor is still viable in the publics eye, really don’t think Taylor would stand a chance working beside Simon, not sure he would want that either, LOL :) . More so since only one vote is allowed per person, alot more than the group of faithful fans are voting, which is very promising. The thought crossed my mind that maybe some are voting just to piss Simon off, most know there was no love loss between the two of them, but really don’t think that many would do that.

    My favorite part is the rehearsal at soundcheck, Taylor in a backwards cap. :) Love, love watching him direct the band. But why was he covering his face with his hands at one point? LOL. One this is for sure, Taylor knows his audience and makes every effort to make sure each town gets something special, even if it’s just changing the name of the town in Maybe You Should to the town where they are performing. That’s what makes a success touring act. Actually if you think about it, knowing his audience is part of what made him so successful on American Idol. :)

    LOL, henry. I’ve heard that she gets kinda bawdy in concerts…cussing, LOL. I would like to see her live someday to see but doubt I’ll ever be able to afford the tickets.

    I’m so mad. I’ve been wanting to see Glen Hansard in concert since I discovered his music a couple of years ago. He is touring with Eddie Vedder, opening for him, and there are 2 dates in Austin this April. So the tickets go on sale at noon today. I was on the computer about 7 minutes after noon and couldn’t get any tickets to either show. Damn ticket brokers!!

    Well, she might go to cussin and tellin dirty jokes but not sure how exciting that would be. And I’m sure in person she would make it more interesting. But all of the videos I’ve seen are like watching paint dry. And the voice is good but no better than some others. I hear a good voice but not a lot of passion or emotions. Perhaps I need to hear more.

    Do we have any idol watchers? I have a question. I still have not watched a show. I have Big Bang and basketball and I just never get to it. But I have watched a few vids. And what is with the goofy judges. Several I saw, there was some rather mediocre singer and they sit there and stare at the singer and each other in amazement as if they have never heard anything like it in their whole life. Its really just phony and silly. Am I the only one that has noticed that? They didn’t used to do that. I can’t even imagine Simon doing that. I doubt I ever watch much mainly because I can’t stand the judges. Not even Stephen.

    Henry – the whole show is so contrived and predictable it’s laughable. Anyone who thinks otherwise is completely brainwashed. There’s nothing spontaneous about it and everything shown is calculated down to judges facial expressions, I believe. The only reason I’m watching the auditions is cuz I like to look at Taylor’s standup poster (which got a lot of good face time)! LOL

    Awe, I think the judges have always used facial expressions to convey their reactions to some of the singers. Simon sure did. Paula would try not to laugh at the bad ones, but sometimes she did. The show was always contrived during the auditions. That is why they got Taylor to do his silly dance. The producers I think give the judges a heads up, a crib sheet on the kids. They stage the back stories on some of the top 24 and a few others. But overall I think it is more real than other competitions.

    For those who missed the nut job tweets, I’ll recap. Jen posted she had a hot date. This seemed to bring out a pathological jealousy in an obsessed fan who obviously has followed T.’s every move since 06 as well as keeping track of his GFs and who is who in the soul patrol. She obviously follows Jen.

    She told T. J was a phony, who just wants to be somebody by dating him and taking him for his money, hahaha! She knocked her religious tweets and she pleaded with T to open up his eyes and take her warnings about J. She began her rants by saying J. wants everyone to know she is dating him and that is why she tweets certain hints. She called T. stupid and named his other GF’s who kept silent about their dating life. She named Sahara, which made me laugh considering she tweeted even pics of him in her home.

    A few fans responded to the nut job. T. made a twitter appearance. So then the nut, before deleting all the jealous hateful posts, sent some tweets about the SP and old grannies who defend him. She called T. stupid and said he had no other fans and she felt sad for him. Then the coward called the SP suckers, and almost tried to make it seem she had done the prior tweets to get a rise out of the hags and grannies.

    But, my take is this is a bitter gal who is a mean, spiteful person in real life. She is not only a nutcase, but a nasty one.

    Pretty good rundown, rosie. :lol: A little entertainment I guess, although I doubt its to entertaining for Jen. Some of the nutjobs remarks were so offbase and wrong that you have to wonder about their brain power. That kind of jealousy effects your reasoning I suppose.
    That rant, back off, make excuses why you were doing it and then disappear has happened before. But it happened quicker than usual last night. Didn’t the deletion of the insults and then coming up with some kind of excuse about why she did it almost sound like she had been caught? Think there could have been some talking to her that we didn’t see. Just an idea.
    Could have disappeared because of the amount of people that reported her as spam also.
    I have never been able to understand why there are people who think Ts personal life is something they should have a say in. What on earth would ever make anyone think that? I understand people having an interest. I have an interest. I like him and his music and I always hope his life is going well but having an interest and thinking its your place to tell him what he should be doing, thats two different things. Its a whole other level of craziness.

    Rosie, Saw this morning something had gone on, the rant sounds very familar. Wish folks would just stay out of his and Jenn’s private life and leave them alone. Like he would take advice from a bitter, foul mouthed nutcase.

    Kayla came home for the weekend. Me her and Brodie went out for dinner last night. He took us to an English Brew Pub, wasn’t impressed with the menu selection alot of very odd combinations. But it was good. Kayla and I watched the Discovery Channel the murder mysteries all night, we were laying on my bed talking and watching the shows. Tommy is away for the weekend had a Council seminar.

    Had the shock of my life this morning. Went to shake my kitchen rugs out and heard like a growling, went over to the other side of my deck and there in my backyard was a Mountain Lion. Dropped the rug in my hand ran in and called the police. They came by and said I was the 5th call they received some said it was a tiger or a leporad. A few minutes later Brodie called and said why are the cops at the house? His friend drove by and called him to see if all was ok. He said did you get a picture? Lord no! I got in the house and quickly as I could. But I went online to see if I could find a pic of what I saw and found this one was taken about a 1/2 north of us, so I guess they are around:

They will tell us what they want us to know and no more than that. Thats why I don’t read his timeline that much seeing some of the tweets just drive me nuts! Thats probably why I don’t know half of whats going on cause I don’t read his timeline. I just go over and look when someone mentions something going on, otherwise I’m not there.

    yeah, rosie, I noticed the “our man” tweet and cringed. Its just my opinion but I don’t think that person is happy about the gf either. Phony as all get out and nose stuck everywhere it doesn’t belong. Now I have heard Tay referred to as our boy on some of the boards but its in a whole different way, not nosing into his private life.
    What was kind of funny is the whole thing started when J said she has a hot date but she didn’t even mention with who. Good grief, I have used that expression when I had to bathe the dog or something. Talk about jumping to conclusions.

    JI you are probably the smartest among us for not reading the timeline, sometimes I wonder why I do. No matter what he says or what anyone else says, what am I going to do about it? Pretty much nothing. I just want to see whats going on , I guess.

    Oh and about the #FFs. It turns out they keep an entire site to count them and its important to somebody. Shows how much attention they get I guess and all the celebs are ranked. Taylor doesn’t do to bad. Often is ranked higher than people with a lot more followers. They even have a way to see how many follows someone got off of the FF. Taylor had forty some last time I looked so I guess it helped.

    JI, unless someone turned loose a pet I don’t think you have a tiger. Picture you showed looked like a mountain lion. We are starting to get some sightings around here. They follow the deer and are native to your area I believe. They are usually more careful about being seen in the day time like that. We have more bobcat and lynx.

The only vid I’ve seen of them together was before the LSU/Ala game, they make a really good looking couple, hope they can grow together without the interference.

    Kayla left a little while ago, heading down to the BF’s his buddy is having a Super Bowl party. I’m making a roast chicken today usually make a big meal for the Super Bowl. Tommy should be home about 4 this afternoon. Then Brodie will be leaving for Honda school for the week. They have to go at least twice a year to be recertified by Honda.

    I see some new nasties showed up last night. I know you guys have a good idea who they are because you follow is timeline, and recognize their writing styles, but I have no clue who they are, just that they are very nasty and negative. Was glad to see he blocked the one right away. Those tweets are totally out of line, he should block all of them. Him and Jenn should not have to put up with that crap.

    Chill, Cats can go either way. I’ve been lucky mine have all been all pretty friendly. Kittyman just showed up on our deck about 6 years ago, wouldn’t come in the house for three years. We finally coaxed him in now he is like king of the house, a very loving cat. As you saw in the pic he will just cuddle up to you and stay there until you move him. Ozzie is a sweetheart, Tommy always sleeps with extra blankets on his side in the winter, I can’t stand the extras get overheated. But about 9 every night Ozzie will go on my chest of draws and stare at the blankets to let Tommy know he is ready. As soon as Tommy puts the blankets on he snuggles in, LOL!! :)

    Anyone watch Smash? I was not impressed. Kat’s voice was great but I felt they tried to cram too many characters and too many songs into one hour. I think they should have taken things slower or started with 2 hour premier. It has potential if they take the time to flesh out the characters.

    Smash was excellent and I think Kat will be a star. It gives realistic insight into the behind the scenes of what it is like to put on a broadway show, from the story line, producing, directing, music score and the life of struggling actors, singers and dancers in NYC.

    I could envison Kat auditioning for the part to play the character, who is a struggling want a be, who waits tables in between going to auitions. Steven Spielburg is the producer and Kat had to meet with him for the part.

    Since T. goes on auditions and was on Broadway, and would like to have more roles, I think you all would like this show. It has both strong male and female characters and is very realistic as to the business. My son started in the business in NY and even did the Spielberg thing.

    As for Idol and Kat. Some of you are typecasting her. I can imagine the problem T. faces trying to be taken seriously by Casting peeps, directors and producers. Based on Idol, he’d be typecast as the goofy guy, from Bama who could sing. I hope that is not the case.

    Anyway, I really enjoyed the first hr. and will be tuning in. I bet T. will also be watching.

    Rosie, Not typecasting her, just the image she projects, never sat well with me. I do wish her success with the show and her career, but its just something that didn’t catch my eye. I did put the show on for a minute last night but as soon as saw her with the nose up in the air turned it off. Maybe she doesn’t realize she does it, but I find it a turn off, because I see it so often with her.

    I too hope something will happen for T also. He seems to be very patient as far as his career goes. I think he is waiting for the right match for him, just as Kat waited for a good match for her. Both have seen sucess since Idol which makes me happy for both of them.

    There is one thing I am absolutely positive of and that is Kat never waited a table in her life nor will she ever.
    Look, I think shes pretty and can sing decently but nothing special, shes like a voice trained robot and always has been. Remember the old monkeybot? :lol:

    And trust me Spielberg was not foreign to her. There are many actual stuggling actresses who would have been more deserving of the role. But shes better connected.
    I know what a much more interesting and true to life show could be. With a lot more grit and real life experiences. How about a band struggling to make it on the road in all the little bars across the country. Now there would be some stories.

    Henry, I think Kat paid her dues doing several auditions and doubt she got the part via connections. Anyway, she is very good in the role, so far.

    Oh and perhaps Tay will give us a date for the CD. However, he still seems to be in the writing stage, so I guess he won’t have a release date yet.

    I do think Kat has worked hard to get as far as she has. Just for me, I sure would have a lot rather seen Diana DeGarmo in the role. I enjoy her voice quite a bit more. I hope she gets something one of these days to make herself better known but she does very well on Broadway.

    Taylor is a smart man to give Kat much praise. Saw that Jamie Mclean is going to be playing for him at Avalon. They are a very good match. Should be a great show.
    Another smart thing to do I think, for many reasons.

    Henry, I agree its good to sit in with other musicians. He gets to see others out there and they get to see what he is all about. Not on the same level, but Brodie finds it helps his skills sitting in with other bands, he learns from them, they learn from him and he shares his experiences with his own band.

    I always loved Diana’s voice too, very talented singer. I think one of the reasons I never took to Kat is that she is a trained voice not a natural singer, not that she can’t sing she can but it just never seemed natural to me, like she struggled to present her songs. Taylor and others on that season always seemed relaxed and the songs came naturally to them.

    Someone got me to check out a guy thats on Idol by the name of Reed Grimm. I think he will be heard from. If he didn’t make top 24 they have lost their minds. But the guys no amateur, hes a pro. Been on stage since he was a small child and it shows. I even found a vid where he was doing the Carlton dance. :lol:
    Voice not as strong as Taylors, voices like Taylors don’t come around too often. But he was good and fun to watch.

    He did not seem at all relaxed to me. A few times I thought he was about to jump out of his itchy skin. I asked the shoe question because I think other questions like when, where, how, what and why with regards to his career, puts pressure on him.
    He seems more relaxed and willing to talk about his favorite authors and Ore and such than he does about acting roles and his CD details.

    I loved the personal life question, but wish he would have been more definative in his answer. He even seemed jittery answering the question about how is his dad. That’s because there are a few that would then think they are buds with his dad, just as a few think they are buds with Jen.

    People need to take a hint. He responded to the Valentine question by saying flowers for his grandma, not with any who, what and where he was celebrating the day.

    Oh and that Claudia tweep tweeted him his CD should be called “You Know”. Hers should be called “Public Intoxification”. Oh, I forgot, she considers herself T.s friend. He needs to nip some of the shit in the bud and twitter’s a good place to do so.

    Henry,tish, I know what you mean wanting to know what hes up to, i was referring to those who actually interfere with his personal life, like the ones tweeting nasty things about Jenn or as you said trying to run his life. When he is dating someone that will get out, thats fine, he doesn’t need his fans telling him what and how to do.

    Rosie, I thought he was a little buzzed which makes him seem to free flow. Exactly about the flowers do some really think he will dilvulge anything more than that? Its just crazy how some think they are his “friends” and are in with him, LOL

    I just enjoy that he takes the time to talk to us. We all know going in hes not gonna give much away, but it is fun to watch him squirm around some questions!

    I think the squirming is totally normal for him. Its just that sometimes its way more than others. I have no idea what the difference is but sometimes he can hardly sit still and other times he seems pretty relaxed. Its all just a part of him that I enjoy. There are at least two interviews that make me smile every time I think of them.
    And the valentine question was funny. “I bought lots of flowers……for Grandma” :lol: You know there are some celebs that don’t seem to mind sharing or at least pretend to be sharing their dating life. In fact they use it to get publicity. Taylor doesn’t care to and thats his call. It could be the meltdowns some of his fans have had in the past and still do that makes him as private about it as he is.
    I’m not at all sure but it could be that if he were less secretive they might get used to it and quit melting down. Or maybe not, he probably knows what he is doing. :lol:

    Henry, I agree, I’ve noticed even when he comfortable in a situation he squirms, must be the ADD. Brodie even when he is relaxed his hands are always moving, he is tapping at something, think its all just how the ADD reacts on folks. Thought the Grandma answer was great. I agree some like to talk about their personal lives, Taylor is one who wants to keep that part of him private, and I respect that. Thats a hard one to call, maybe if he was more open they would have a meltdown and be done, somehow I dont’ think all would be done. Seems everytime he gets invovled its the same ones that have all the negative comments.

    Brodie was at Honda school all week, he called on his way home and said let’s do Italian tonight. Was actually gonna go to Shop Rite after work, we are expecting snow tomorrow and needed a few things. He got home and off we went to Bensi’s, the food was excellent. Got home and took the chance to hit Shop Rite tonight, was shocked I was in and out within 45mts. Brodie unloaded the car and I was done! So snow I am as ready as i can be for you! :)

    I don’t like the new twitter, so used to the tweets to the left and all the other stuff to the right. You’d think being a lefty it would be easy for me to adjust to it, not!

    See what I told you Chill, everything is ass backwards. All of the social sites are apparently run by obsessive complusive types. They cannot leave anything along. Gotta be fixing it.
    And you know just about the time you get used to it, they’ll fix it again. Its happened over and over again, people find something they like and they end up “fixing” themselves right out of existance.
    What mostly drove me nuts was everybodys names being different. They put the @ handles that everyone went by in tiny letters and the other name in big letters. I solved that by making both names the same for me.
    I don’t like twitter anyway, but its where you get the latest updates nowadays so there I be checking it out.

    New new new again Twitter really does suck.
