Shhh, Nola, it’s 70 degrees and sunny.
Nola, when you live with the bad winters every year, you totally look forward to spring. I usually love the first snowfall then I’m done!! And this year the first one was in Oct when we lost power for 4 days, and fractured my ankle!
Chill, Was just saying that to Kayla today, on tues we were in the 60′s sunny and nice. This is how its been going all this winter goes up into the 60′s for a few days then we have these dramatic drops in temps for a few. We had a little snow today, but the winds were wicked. I drive a Corolla and the wind kept whipping the steering wheel kept slipping away from me. Thats why I was so worried about Kayla going back today, but she said the traffic was so bad that the wind wasn’t a factor she had to go real slow.

I hate when the kids have to drive in that kind of scary wind! Glad she made it OK JI. I hate our Jan/Feb here too. It has been very cold here for a couple of days but at least clear. We usually have very dreary, rainy, cold winters.

Chill, you are supposed to do donuts in the parking lot after a Taylor concert not on a busy highway. You are very lucky. Car decides to do a 360 you just have no control at all.
Up until a couple days ago, we were having a very warm Jan. then it tried to freeze us to death, but its not to bad now. I just can’t get here much, been running so much I barely know what day it is. But I’m keeping up with all Taylor news.
He needs to stop for a day or so too.

Henry, Us too this whole winter so far has been warm. The temps dropped yesterday and the winds picked up. Still very cold today, but the winds seemed to have died down. I went grocery shopping this morning, Shop Rite is at a higher elevation and the winds up there were terrible, my cart kept trying to take off while I was loading the car on my way out. Back home in a nice warm house, doing my Sat cleaning now, ugh!

Oh well, here it is late at night and I might as well be pissin someone off by having an opinion or I wouldn’t be doing my job.
Following some convo here and there on twitter and I do get totally exasperated. People just make little sense to me. Maybe my brain is weak. More than one thing I was reading about but heres one. The main reason T doesn’t have more followers than he does is because he was maligned, made fun of and put down in the entertainment media for the last 5 years or so. To the point that many men and younger people are not about to give him a shot until something happens to change their mind.And thats what hes out there doing, changing their minds. If twitter had existed right out of the box in 2006 he would have had 100 of thousands right off the bat without saying a word but now the man could tweet until he turned purple, it would make little difference. And when he did tweet more on occasion, I fail to see what good it did him. Talking to a few fans late at night was fun for them but only reinforced his image as only having middle aged fans. I didn’t see much of an increase in numbers.
Except for a few semi retired chatterboxes that don’t have a whole lot to do anymore he tweets about as much as anyone else. And by the time he gets done with most of his days and he has a choice of going out with friends or chatting with people on twitter, well I know what I would chose.
But he has been increasing more lately and as he says he gets them the old fashioned way and by that I feel sure he means by WORKING ON HIS CRAFT. Not through scandel, not by acting out and doing and tweeting stupid stuff, just networking and work. And he does work, first , last and always. Most of the time even when hes out having fun, hes working. He just crisscrossed the country and helped to record a CD/DVD in the last couple days that none of us knew about and I bet its not the only thing we don’t know about. On his few days to enjoy his football he picked up more followers than usual. And I for one refuse to believe that twitter is going to end up being the be all and end all of anyones existence or career. Cause if twitters their main deal, they ain’t got much.
Well, maybe one or two will have time to read that little essay.

Yes, if Twitter had been around in 2006, he’d be rivaling Lady Gaga in the followers. For sure. Even if some would have signed up just to bash him, i.e., Daughtry fans, McPhee fans, etc.
And from tonight’s Saturday Night Live: “I am what you call Twitter famous.” “And by that you mean…?” “Not famous.”

And I would like to add just one more thought. It seems there are a few folks who think that because Taylor might be hoping for some new fans and doesn’t talk as much as he did that he must want to be rid of his old fans.

Henry, You should publish that essay!! So, so true!! I’d like to see him tweet more but too, but realize he has a life outside of twitter. In no way do I think him tweeting more is gonna help him move ahead in the business. I also don’t think he wants to be rid of his fanbase, although not huge we have supported him to where he is today and I for one believe he appreciates every fan he has!!

I didn’t realize that was such a historic studio JI, thanks for bringing that over. I never think to check the BB blog. You know Taylor had to be soaking up all the history from that studio.
Thanks JI, I doubt I would have seen that either. I seldom even check the Google alerts lately, they have turned into total junk for the most part. I imagine that was there only because the BB made sure it was picked up by google. I see most of his spots on twitter or elsewhere and google is more or less nothing but old crap to stick ads on. And much of it you don’t want to click on, the only reason I don’t drop them is because I’m sure there is someone , somewhere counting how many times someone is dropped. I wish I could tell them “Hey, I’m not dropping this person, I’m dropping you, Google.”
And thanks for you kind words. And I am not defending or attacking Ts or anyone elses use of twitter. Just trying to talk some common sense.I have a lot of thoughts about twitter, but not going into it right now.

She called this morning, shes at the townhouse by herself, Chris and Steph are both sick and aren’t coming back until tomorrow maybe. Chris has a fever of 103 flu like symptons, his Dad stopped by yesterday to pick up the loveseat we had already gave them the couch, Chris was too sick, Steph’s just achy and not feeling well. Steve her BF is going to stay with her for the day today to keep her company. She said the kids in the townhouses around her are very entertaining and she wasn’t worried about being alone, they all stopped by to check on her to make sure she was alright.

Taylor’s twitter followers have been increasing at a more rapid rate recently due to the more u have the more u will get. He is experiencing expotential growth. Had he engaged fans and tweeted more often right out of the box, he’d have about triple the number he has now.
Henry, you make a great point about the fact he would have had hundreds of thousands had twitter been around when he won AI. He’s been out of the limelight since the start of twitter and to me that is the reason he hs so few followers, rather than people putting him down. People have forgotten about him because he’s not on the radio or on their TV’s. One could say the music business people did not promote or play him.
When he tweets about sports or makes a good joke or says some patriotic or deep or controversial, peeps come out of the woodwork and he both gets new followers and engages the followers who usually stay in the shadows. By no means do I think that the silly twitter parties would gain him new followers. But I absolutely think those other kind of tweets would give an insight into the man and gain him new followers. For example, the way we all got to know each other was via the internet. I knew zip about any of those new england fans until tweeting with some of them.
He would like new fans. He follows few if any of the regular tweeters or the ones who go to so many shows or the ones who RT vids day and night. Seems obvious to me. He just followed a new person who tweeted in response to his casket tweet, but none of the rest who did so before or after her. He follows several who are not ass kissing fans, ones that do not seem obsessed. None of the regulars take his hints. I’ve seen his pattern of who he decides to follow and there is nothing random about it.
I’m wrappin up my essay with A. He is not too busy to tweet way more often. B. There are safety in numbers, the more followers he has, the more he will get and the lest crazy or obsessed will we seem as a group. C. When he tweets an opinion on anything, it draws attention and makes him seem real to people, and people like people as a rule when they get to know them. D. There is not a damn thing to lose by tweeting more often and who can say who might discover him via a tweet of his retweeted and what that person might do for him.
I can’t figure out why he doesn’t tweet more often, and who knows if more followers would result in more CD sales or more ticket sales. I can’t speculate on that. I can tell you whether he follows me or not or replies to anything I may tweet him is really of no consequence. I’ll still go to the shows that are in my area and I’ll still buy a CD or two or three
when it comes out. It would be nice to get a reply or a follow, but I’m not losing any sleep over it.
I think I just look at it as, he’s a 35-year-old musician who has interests other than twitter. I don’t delve too deeply into it. I mean, look what we know. He’s dating, traveling, in and out of recording studios, at this function, at this gala, etc. Yes, he could have time to tweet in between, but he doesn’t.
I really don’t think his success will depend on twitter. I think he’s networking — a lot — and that’s what the key to his success will be.
And I wholeheartedly agree with B!!
And maybe that’s what he means when he says he’s doing it the old-fashion way. haha! Maybe.
We don’t always agree with each other, but that’s okay. If we did, it might be a little Stepford-ish. Now, that would be scary. lol
He just seems to have his own game plan. I try not to frustrate myself when he makes decisions contrary to what I think would be his best move. I’m just along for the ride.
Taylors numbers have not increased enough for that to be the reason for more lately. He gets these spurts when one of 2 things are happening. He is out and about, meeting and greeting, I saw several who added on from seeing him in NO.
Or, he gets a mention on someones page who has a lot of followers. He works at getting that to happen as do some others and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Also, he has been picking up more and more from the people he has met and worked with in Nashville. Knew that would happen. And those have a tendency to grow from word of mouth.
He knows what he is doing IMO.
Also his reason for following some is to keep an eye on them. It keeps them a lot quieter when they know he sees their every tweet. Thats worked fairly well in some cases. And of course he has a tendency to follow new people and younger people. Thats just smart.
Some people have hundreds of thousands from the minute they sign on even before they have tweeted a thing, because they have done something to get a lot of attention or are thought of as being cool or crazy. Often when T is mentioned, people express shock that someone is following him. And that is because of what has been said about him and how he has been presented to the world. But that will and already is changing, he has a hill to climb but he is doing it.
But I think the quality of his tweets and who they are addressed to have a lot more to do with it than the quantity.
Chill, Henry, Couldn’t agree with you more. Hes a 35yr old single guy, trying to make a name for himself, twitter is probably last on his list of things to do. I agree he knows exactly what he is doing and follows some to keep an eye on them. I don’t get upset when he doesn’t tweet, just always figure hes got something better going on then sitting and chatting with the fans. We see how he jets around the country doing different things and like Henry said probably alot more than we ever see. I honestly don’t think any networking site, twitter, facebook etc is gonna make or break someone, they have to have other means to get the word out, and i think that is exactly what he is doing. Making these contacts in Nahsville is gonna do more for him then tweeting or being on fb. For the fans its always nice when he tweets and he interacts with them, but i understand he doesn’t always have the time. And now with a gf he probably has less time for anything other than working on the CD and spending time with Jenn, and that is how it should be.

I swear, twitter is becoming way to important for some. I follow a few young ones just for the hell of it and it seems with some teenagers their whole sense of self worth is becoming tied up in how many twitter followers they have. So they spend an incredible amount of time twittering and saying and doing outrageous things to get attention. And laughing at people who don’t have many followers. Somehow, I don’t think thats a very good thing.
But whatever, right now I was looking for something on facebook, I barely understood that place anyway and now that they have changed some things I have nooooo idea.
I’m starting to think that an anti-social person was just not made for social media. hahaha
I go in spurts myself. I don’t always find the time for the internet. LOL
And, jersey, you’re right, he’s networking a lot in Nashville, and I’m really happy for him that this time around living there, he’s in a much better place. Music is the center of his universe, that much we know.

I was watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon Was bragging he reached 100 followers on twitter, he said 3 didgit status was important. So even brianiact nerds are supposed to get excited about having followers.
I never get upset when people differ with my point of view about anything Taylor. In fact I think it was the lack of freedom to disagree with the hard core fans that drove some of the earlier fans undercover or away.
rosie, I agree that some of the early fans stopped posting due to conformist attitudes. I hope and I really believe those people are still fans.
I’m afraid some of those people stopped being active because people didn’t conform to their opinions and attitudes. Which they were sure were always right because they were among the “more intelligent”
And I still say twitter is the devil.
Rosie, I still really don’t believe twitter is gonna make or break anyone. Can it reach alot of people yeah, but it is limited with 140 characters. Asked a good friend of mine who has played since we were kids, about 6 years ago when his Dad’s health started to fail he told him he should persue his dream of making music fulltime. He quit his job and has been honing his skills since, he plays alot at Sullivan Hall in NYC is a success in some peeps eyes no, but he persured what makes him happy. I asked him if he thought twitter or fb would help him advance his career, his answer to me was “I’m the driver of my career, I have to get off my ass, and sell myself, twitter, fb or any other media won’t do it.” “Does it help having followers in both places yes it does, but at the end of the day you have to do your own thing to make people hear and believe in you”
Before I started posting and was just reading it took me a long time to make that first post. Emotions and opinions were so high both ways, sometimes it was hard to see who was right and who was wrong. In the end I found Chill’s blog for me was the most supportive of Taylor, in his music and his personal life. No one to me was over the top, just believed in the man and his music.

Sometimes I think all those emotions and opinions were and are so strong because of the way the fans came to know Taylor and his music, through American Idol. That franchise did everything they could to encourage the over the top fan behavior because it put money in their pockets…..pure manipulation.
Of course I believe Taylor was already tuned into that part of the deal from the beginning and just made the best of the chance to get his music out to people.
And yes, chill’s blog is one of the best.
I loved that photo of Taylor taken in Arizona. But I am partial to all the ones that Sahara took on the boat and in her house. He didn’t seem posed and he seemed so relaxed and natural. Those 4 or 5 pics were special. I swear southern California is good for the soul. It is just so pretty and casual and what’s not to love about seeing flowers in the winter.
In my few years on the internet Chill is one of the few bloggers that didn’t end up making the blog more about themselves instead of whatever it was they started blogging about. Most bloggers have huge egos and they revel in having “followers” . And in many cases the followers turn into worshipers. Many political blogs are like that… among others. Chill is an exception. Despite whatever else is talked about its still for and about supporting Taylor.
I just downed my coco puffs and I’m ready to meet the day.

tishtx,. You could be right the way Taylor was introduced during season 5, Idol caused as much hype about him and all the write ups in the rag mags added to it also.
Woke up to a sheet of ice this morning, got real brave and slowly went out and down the paver steps. When I got to the steps tommy had taken pieces of old rugs and put them on the steps so I didn’t step on ice and fall, then put pieces leading to my car in the driveway, so made it out of here without a problem. Not sure how it would have turned out if he hadn’t put those pieces of rugging down, LOL!!! Probably would have just gone back in the house worked home today and gone in tomorrow.

Well if Twitter helped careers Elliott Yamin would be doing alot better than he is. His twitter followers are more than Taylor, almost 32,000. He got them when he was overseas during a hurricane and the main news outlets were getting info from his tweets. He tweets more than Taylor but the tweets are almost always about sports. Boring. LOL. I think Twitter and Facebook have their place for publicity purposes much like having a street team. Great to have inplace to help get the word out when pushing new music or concert dates. But they do need some attention to help keep the fans listening. I think Taylor could tweet more but he is doing better than he did at first.

Yes it was an earthquake Elliot was caught in and he was running out of insulin, scary for a diabetic.

Caryl posted again, the river froze so the water has no where to go and is flooding the basement. She was the only person they found c02 on, her bedroom is right by the elevator shaft, they didn’t feel the amount was anything to worry about. That poor girl has had one sucky day, being woken at 6am by a pounding on her door to evacuate, that in itself must have been unnerving.

The last kid that auditioned tonight was really good, Phillip Phillps, a real natural. A few other good ones but he was the standout tonight.

Just read in the paper about a 17yr old NJ girl had friended a friend of someone she worked with on fb. They got talking on fb and the guy didn’t like something she said and posted “I’m gonna get someone to come over and slit your throat” The girls dad saw it and called police. They arrested the guy charging him with terroristic threats, but they aren’t sure they can hold him for anything as it was posted on the internet. They said there is no clear law on it and by keeping him they are violating his 1st amendment rights. Geesh, if you put something like that in writing and sent it to someone through the mail they could charge you, but this they can’t.
I read that they are comparing Phillip Phillips from the auditions last night to T, no comparison at all. Their style and presentations are completely different. Don’t get that one at all.

People slay me with their comparisons. Theres a ton of people who never saw Taylor on AI, don’t have any idea what he does but they’ve “heard” . Theres many that think hes just like Scotty. They simply don’t have a clue.
Couple ideas about Taylor, Just my opinions. I think he enjoyed his time on AI very much. I think hes very proud of the job he did on AI and of his win as he should be. Very possible that he doesn’t want people thinking about the show that he won as a crappy show. Why would anyone want people to think that?
And hes right, when he was on there it was a good show and the most popular thing on TV. Its probably still the best of the “music competitions”
I’m not a big fan of those kind of shows because of the producers and the way they do things and I think there are a few too many of them now. But idol still has a lot of viewers and Taylor may be hoping that he could get some time on it. Have no idea if thats a possibility or not, but I may watch a little this year if I have time, and I hope it continues to do okay because I think Taylor would prefer it that way.

AI has been very entertaining the past 2 nights. They are hardly showing any bad singers and therefore for the 1st time ever we are getting to see more good singers. Jlo and Tyler have steped up their game. Idol is by far the best of the talent shows and these auditions have not dragged at all.
It benefits Taylor that Idol is continuing to be a top show. Anyway, I love it and it seems so warm and real this year. I don’t think it is a good idea to tweet anything negative about Idol while including Taylor’s name in the tweet.
“IF” Taylor gets his CD out by May, he has a shot – a long shot, imo, of getting on the show to perform it. There’s also a 400th episode special show airing in Feb that maybe have some sort of retro feel to it and they may bring back winners and whoever…. it’s not a performance or result show, so I think I’m right….
Let’s cross our fingers for both those things happening.

Hmm, something strange is going on. The download box at the bottom of the blog says user (me) doesn’t have sharing enabled, but I do, always have. I haven’t changed a thing. And it was working earlier this week. Do you think this has something to do with Mega Upload being shut down? Box net is a sharing site. I’m going to email support, but I thought I’d throw it out there first.

ss, That would be wonderful if T is on the special they are planning. Would even be more wonderful if they have him on during the season. They seem to be comparing him to a few that have auditioned so far, guess thats a good thing as it keeps his name out there and linked to Idol. What I’ve read so far the comments have been ok. I see he hit 14,000 followers, that is great, hopefully if he keeps gets positve feedback from being compared more will follow him.
The standouts for me last night were Reed Grim he sang the theme song from Family Matters, very strong voice, Creihton Fraker he wrote a song about Idol which he auditioned with, reminded me of Paul McDonald from last year, just that his voice is very different but has a nice sound. And the last one was Hallie Day, what a voice, for some reason she seemed familar to me, I knew her story, and her face like I had seen it before. Rosie shes from Baltimore did she click with you?

Yes JI, I liked Hallie Day. I have a grandaughter named Hallie Kay. I’m wondering however if her style of over the top singing might get a bit old. It is amazing how so many of the contestants have hard luck stories. I wish the coal miner kid would have sung a little better and the homeless 17 yr old who dropped out of high school. shouldn’t have because I doubt he will go far in Hollywood. I’m assuming the pre teen girls are digging that 15 yr old Eban who barely looks 13.

Rosie, yes Hallie might be over the top like Siobhan Magnus, had a wonderful voice but was sometimes out of touch with what was going on. Just don’t know why I knew her story about the drugs and her hubby coming inot her life and getting her straight. Maybe they had something during the summer that showed her and i kept it in the memory bank. I agree the 17yr old they just put through because they felt sorry for him, has a nice voice but needs to develop it more. Yeah think they have another Justin Bieber on their hands, LOL!!
Are you gonna be getting snow tomorrow? They are saying 5-7 inches for us. Just what I need, Lily’s 1st Birthday is Sunday, hopefully it will be fine to drive by then.

I think we will get 1 to 3 inches overnight, but then it’s going to turn to rain. Temps are going to warm up again early next week. There is only 2 months until spring!

Rosei, Oh good glad I’m not the only one who thought they saw her and/or her story before. Didn’t remember her name but remembered her story. Glad your not getting much snow, they said rain maybe on Sunday for us just depends on the winds and such it could stay light snow. Usually Jan goes slow, but this month has gone fast. A guy I grew up with is married to Bettey La Vette shes a Soul/RB singer who has won a few grammys, just recently did a tribute to John Lennon at the Beacon Theatre for his birthday. The Pittsburgh auditions was the first time the Idol staff ventured underground in a coal mine to film a 19 yr old guy, singing “In The Still Of The Night” to his fellow coal miners. Ah show business!
Hallie was a drug addict who went to NY, then came back home to Baltimore and went in her bathroom and swallowed a bottle of pills in a suicide attempt. But she was saved by an older chubby guy her married her, loves her and said she should try out for AI.
The 17 yr old guy, tried out last yr and didn’t get a golden ticket. Since then, his mom left him and his twin brother and their dad who is on dialysis. And he and his bro and dad are now homeless. But, the kid decided to drop out of high school to give Idol one more shot, rather than get a job to try to bring in some money. He barely got a golden ticket. Oh and they showed the mom who left them all. It looked like they stalked her on the street and filmed her.

I missed the 2nd night of Idol. We went to see the Alabama Shakes in the French Quarter. GREAT band, great show! I did recorded Idol but I’ve been fighting my computer for 3 days so I don’t know when I’m gonna watch it.
Shelley has a good voice and she’s pretty, but her songs sound like too many other songs. The one you posted NolaMar reminds me of some other song.
Nola, Loved the video, think her & T will be a good match, the two of them should come up with some good stuff!! I like the rocker stuff too, has a little jump to it.
They found some good talent in Pitts. A couple of them made me sit up and listen, they were pretty good.

The snow has come and gone, about 5 inches. Tommy did all the heavy shoveling and I swept the front porch and my back deck so he wouldn’t have to do them. Made some fresh flounder for dinner, brioled it, turned out very good!!
Tommy’s trying to figure if we will get back in time for him to watch the Giants game tomorrw. Its Lily’s first birthday, told him I wouldn’t count on it, maybe the last half he will be able to catch if hes lucky.

I’ve been busy today making CDs of some of Taylor’s concerts for a guy at work. He just got hired this month and noticed my meet & greet picture with Taylor in my office. He said he really liked Taylor’s bluesy-soul stuff on Idol but didn’t know Taylor had released an album in 2009. Of course I told him the name of the album and said he should really get it. Then this week he stopped by to ask if I had watched Idol. Seems he and his wife are big fans of the show. He said he wife had picked Scotty as the winner last year from the very first of the show. Anyway, I asked him if he would like to have some of Taylor’s music from before Idol. He said that would be great.
So I’m making him copies of the 12th & Porter set in Nashville from before Taylor was on Idol and the Smith’s Olde Bar in Atlanta, GA set from 2005. I also told him about Taylor giving the fans a download of his Workplay 2009 concert. He couldn’t believe Taylor would just give the fans a whole concert…thought that was so nice! So I’m making him a copy of that one also.
Can’t wait to see what he thinks.
I haven’t told him how many recordings from concerts I have
If he asks what he can do to repay me for the recordings….I’m sending him to the store to buy Early Works and The Distance.

Too funny, i didn’t realize at first Kevin was married to Bettey, he found me on fb and sent a request to me. Ha, ha chill. I don’t know why I did that because I mostly use Tweetdeck, not Twitter in my browser. And what the heck is Stalker Twitter?! Is that some kind of new software that tells others what you are doing on twitter?! I guess those people I unfollowed know about it now, LOL.
haha!!! No, I don’t think it tells when you unfollow someone. But if you’re on Twitter (PC version) and you click on activity, it tells you everything. LOL!! Chill created a list, chill put this person on a list, chill retweeted this person, chill is now following this person. That’s what I call it Stalker Twitter. ha!! A lot of people were calling it that when it first appeared.
I like the lists, it’s just easier to keep up with your interests. I just need to organize them better. So keep a look-out, I’ll be doing it really soon.
Just back from the birthday, Lily is getting to be quite a character! My niece got a smash cake for Lily and a big cake for everyone else, she wanted no part of it, put her fingers in the frosting and made a face like “ewww”. I tried to feed her a little shook her head no and pushed my hand away.
The guys had both TV’s on the game, so i did catch the Raven’s, it was a good game, sorry Rosie your guys lost, they played a good game, felt bad for the one that missed the field goal that would have tied it and gone into ot. Tommy was happy we got home before half-time for the Giants game, him and Brodie got a pizza. Brodie could care less about football, he went today before we left to look at a used Gibson Rosewood acoustic guitar, he called me and Mom this has the nicest sound to it, i talked the guy down to $1700 do you think i should get it? told him you’ve been looking a long time for one that felt right for you and had a nice sound, go for it. He bought it, its a beautiful guitar, he had the biggest smile on his face coming in with it!

Twitter is little more than a pain in the ass today. I’ve gotten the fail whale about 10 times.
Twitter is down again. Could not handle the volumn of tweets after both games. Guess it will be the same for superbowl. If we have a national disaster, don’t count on twitter.
Still down. Just when people want to use it the most, it is a useless tool. At least I didn’t have to read a ton of gloat tweets from the NE fans. The person who tweeted T. pissed me off when she said Flacco couldn’t get it done. She had no clue that he outplayed Brady and I’m assuming she just wanted to mimic What T. had said about Flacco a few months ago. Then she tweeted some nonsense response to me about 7 points!!! It is a wonder I’m not insane from reading some of the nonsense on his timeline.
I think Taylor’s chances of getting invited to Idol this year are nil. If he wasn’t invited back last year for Idol’s 10 Anniversary it would seem to me the cord is cut. However, in the future, if Taylor has some outstanding success with a hit single or a staring roll in TV or film he will be invited back to assure any spotlight shining on him can be reflected back on Idol. Idol will always find a way to take credit for successful former Idol contestants. Hence, this year I suspect that Katharine Mcphee will be the chosen one. JMHO
Taylor had nothing to promote last year so it’s not a surprise he wasn’t there. I don’t remember many winners on last year’s show (finale) either. To get on the show this year, he’ll need a single to promote (which he doesn’t yet). Without that, forget it (unless they invite the winners back for the 400th show special in late Feb). And even with a single, there are only 8 or 9 slots for past idols, so the competition is tough… even tougher when your managment/agent is not associated with anything 19 or Simon Fuller or Nigel, like Taylor isn’t. Remember, it’s all about the almighty $.
I have to laugh at any credit they take for McPhee…. they wouldn’t give her the time of day prior to this Smash gig, but now she’s one of the ‘successful’ ones! Ya just gotta laugh at the hypocrisy of it all. I hope she gives them her middle finger instead – which she might, cuz I get the impression she’s not to fond of them, TPTB.
Henry, Rosie, Isn’t that maddening when they are over capacity? I’ve had times when I couldn’t get in for well over an hour, they need to address that one.
Denise, ss, Its nice to think it could happen but realistically it probably won’t unless his CD comes out and he has a radio hit on it, and we all know the likelyhood of that happening not too good of odds. I would like to think for the 400th episode they might bring everyone back that would make the most sense. Last years finale I missed none of the winners being a part of it, it just goes to show everyone they really don’t care about their winners and only use them when they need them.
Saw a preview of “Smash” I just don’t see the big deal in it. Your right ss they wrote her off a long time ago, but now that she is making a name for herlself they are taking credit for it, hypocritics.

Henry , I’ve never been to Kansas or stayed anywhere in the middle of the country. I’m sure it is nice, but I think I’d feel trapped being so far from an ocean. Even when I stayed in Pittsburgh I was thinking about how far it is from the Ocean. Speaking of Pittsburgh, it seems 7 of the top 24 are from the Pittsburgh auditions. Who is the idiot who leaks these spoilers and I wonder if they get paid to do so? It takes away from the Hollywood rounds.

Henry, I spent alot of time in Kansas, my brother went to The College of Emporia from 72-75, he got caught in a few tornados while living there. One thing I remember him telling me that the bars out where he was you had to be a member of the club to go into them, they weren’t open to the public.

The old days of the ‘private clubs” JI
Any bar that wanted to stay open later had to pretend to be private and you had to get a membership. It was mostly just a farce and those rules are gone. Kansas was a dry state for quite a while, remember we were the home of Carrie Nation. Her husband was a drunk and she took an ax to many a bar. 
You still can’t buy beer everywhere on Sunday. The gas station out on the highway can’t sell on Sunday but 2 miles down the road at the Kwik Shop they can, cause its inside the city limits and the city can allow it if they want to.
Its all pretty silly.
