ETA: Okay, so I’ve been told this isn’t confirmed! Just speculation. Damn! Oh, well, it is Taylor Hicks Day on May 16th!! Celebrate the holiday responsibly! :-)

    FYI….I just pulled up NBC schedule where I live…Taylor is not listed on The Today Show for Friday. Now that won’t mean he wouldn’t have a quick blip or whatever, but he is not listed…just wanted y’all to know. Night girls…think this change of subject is great…to much fur flying. :)

    Chill, I have read a number of the blogs out of the Phillipines but not that one. Good one.
    They loved him so much over there, I hope he goes again soon. It was so nice to see him get the respect and appreciation from the people and the press that he deserves. There is not one reason why Taylor should be disrespected but that about 75% of what he gets here.

    I left you one last post on that last blog. :-)

    It does seem strange, doesn’t it? WTH could the big news be? And even stranger, it’s not a FOX affiliate, so I would doubt it’s an Idol related announcement. I’ve heard a couple of people speculating maybe Heart Full of Soul being made into a movie. Who the hell knows? As long as it’s not a sequel to Brokeback Mountain, I’d support the endeavor. :-)

    YAY….Just got in and had the message in my emails….YAY!! It said he would be on at 10:15 EST…..I mean, he’s got it down to the time, bless him for that…I am FIRED up!!

    Okay…Cbb and I KNEW it had something to do with his singing choices at the charity event…OH MY….I got the chills (no pun intended Chill, even though our thoughts were of you and everyone)…..BUT…It was THE WAY he SANG it. Y’all listen to it or watch it. He made comments too….and he elaborated on the NY Time and NY Post, the latter was said like good ole Bama boys say it…drawn out and with a bit of humor, hmmmm. Taylor Hicks, I do declare, you are a little urchin!! Well…a BIG urchin…hee hee.

    Okay…now…that date? May 17th to Italy? What about May 31st? He has ANOTHER charity event in Santa Monica, CA….will he be back in time for that? He said on the radio when I was asking him about it, the Italian cruise that is…that it was for TWO weeks…So I suppose he would have enough time! Are we gonna try to figure this…”plans for the summer” out? NBC? How did that happen? NBC and The Today Show? Come on girls, any thoughts here?

    Chill….HAHAHAHAH…..OH LORD…NOT that flick, PLEASE….HAAHAH. No way, our baby boy said to Leno….”Well, I like women!”….so could it be a movie about “Heart Full of Soul”, with Taylor in the lead? OMG…I would fall over if that were the case…Could it be a made for TV movie? Could it? Sighhhhh….This will drive me crazy….for sure!!

    Could it be a NEW NBC show where Taylor would be involved? Maybe with talent or something and he’s the one whose a judge or something of that nature? Could he be a correspondent of some type? What nightly shows do they have? Like Entertainment Tonight? That’s ABC, but you get the drift….Or maybe …oh heck..He did mention BILLY JOEL…I swear he did. I was so ga ga over him, I need to see those vid’s to refresh my memory…when I hear him talk that much and HE did…it just befuddles me…Damn, that man can do it to you…for sure. Any thoughts girls?

    Did you guys get the news also that The Early Works CD will be distributed by Welk Distribution (which also owns Vanguard Records – Marc Broussard is one of their clients) in mid-August?

    I’m 99% sure they will also produce Taylor’s new record as well and distribute the Whomp DVD!

    All this excitment is making me dizzy! :)

    OK, we know they are BACK together again or if you didn’t know, they are…and on The Today Show….The above person was speculating, like we all are…IF Taylor did sign with the above label, LEGACY….then he is back in the fold where he was before….here is the scoop….

    Legacy Recordings is Sony BMG Music Entertainment’s catalog division. It was founded in 1990 by CBS Records (renamed Sony Music in 1991) to handle reissues of recordings from the vast catalogues of Columbia Records, Epic Records and associated labels.     Okay, when in the dickens did he leave? IS that segment on TODAY taped? Tomorrow is May 16th!! There is NO way he can arrive by ship to Italy overnight, LMAO….I’ve been on two cruises and they take TIME. Taylor said on the radio in his interview (which I was able to speak to him) that the Italian cruise would include him performing on ship and also for festivals in Italy. I am now totally confused about this. Can he fly from NY to Italy overnight and not be performing onboard the Italian Cruise? Whew.

    When I tried to obtain more information about the Italian forum for TH, it was PART of the new website, Cummunity…so no go there. I’m not a member. Anyone? WTH? (grins) -

    Taylor Hicks will make his Broadway debut on June 6, playing Teen Angel in “Grease” at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

    Taylor Hicks said being in New York for three months will allow him to continue working on his next CD. He’s been writing songs and recording demos in Nashville, Hicks said, and hopes to release a new single in the fall. The Hoover native and former “American Idol” winner, 31, will perform in the musical through Sept. 7. Hicks plans to announce his Broadway run on television this morning, on NBC’s “The Today Show.”

    “I’m honored for the opportunity to experience Broadway,” Hicks said Thursday. “I feel blessed and excited.”

    He’ll appear in one number in the musical, singing “Beauty School Dropout.” That’s traditional for his character, a hip guardian angel who makes a showy appearance in Act II, offering advice to a teen named Frenchy.

    “This particular part, Teen Angel, really allows me to put my toe in the water and test the waters,” Hicks said. “I’ve always been a little over the top, so this is perfect for me.”

    If he does well on stage and draws audiences, Hicks said, he’ll probably look for another, larger role on Broadway.

    Meantime, he’s been listening to “Beauty School Dropout” and meeting with the “Grease” team to create his niche in the musical.

    “It’s a cool song,” Hicks said. “I can see myself being able to Taylorize it. Who knows? Maybe I’ll do the Elvis meets Aretha Franklin meets Joe Cocker version of ‘Beauty School Dropout.’ I don’t think anybody’s taken that approach yet. I’ll get with the producers and sink my teeth into the role.”

    Hicks said he’s never seen a theater production of “Grease,” but has watched the 1978 movie version, which starred John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John as lovelorn 1950s high-schoolers. In the film, Frankie Avalon played the Teen Angel.

    On stage, the character has been portrayed by singers ranging from Chubby Checker to Al Jarreau to Jennifer Holliday.

    “Grease” made its first appearance on Broadway in 1972, had a long run and was revived in 1994. The show has been produced in London over the years, as well, and national touring casts have traveled throughout the United States.

    The current Broadway production, which opened in August 2007, stars Max Crumm and Laura Osnes, who won their parts on the TV reality series “Grease: You’re the One That I Want.”

    Hicks is likely to be the most recognizable name in the cast, despite his relatively small part. Teen Angel tends to be a flamboyant force in the show, typically wearing a large, fluffy set of wings.

    Will Hicks continue that costume tradition? “I might,” he said. “I might be flying, too.”

    Just came by to see if you had the news. Figured you did.
    Boy, that came out of left field, all the speculating and no one thought of that. I think its great. Can you imagine the fun he will have , spending the summer in New York City. And I bet he will be seen about town a bit too.
    My only worry is about the press being fair to him, other than that I think it is fantastic. Taylor loves the stage , he is as home there as he is in a small , smoky bar. He is a very diverse dude. And IMO he wants to try it all. I just love that damn voice and I think he can do anything.
    I just wish him the very best of luck.
    Can’t wait till the performance shows up somewhere.
    As you can imagine there is a lot of angst out there. :-)

    How COOL is this? OMG….Now we know why he sang the song he did the other night and made reference to the NY Times and NY Post!! YAY!! What a wonderful opportunity for him. How many times have we said that Taylor was a total pachage…that he had so many gifts to share….this FOCKS. Bet we have film from the SP and maybe a CELLCERT when Taylor’s turn comes up on stage?     The “American Idol” alum will join the Broadway cast of “Grease” on June 6, playing Teen Angel in the revival of the popular musical.

    The gray-haired singer — whose “Idol” fan base was called “The Soul Patrol” — said he plans to add “soulful flavor” to his performance of “Beauty School Dropout.” The flashy role, he said, is “a classic fit for a classic performer.”

    The Alabama-born crooner’s run ends Sept. 7.     Hicks’ self-titled, post-”Idol” album, released in December 2006, has sold a respectable 702,000 copies, according to Nielsen Soundscan data. But it didn’t reach the 1 million mark or register a hit song, unlike previous “Idol” winners.

    This summer, Hicks intends to finish up a follow-up album — on his own terms.

    “I’ve had the creative freedom and the time to write some of the best music that I’ve ever written in my whole life. … The options are unlimited and there has been some great interest now that I’m a free agent, so to speak,” he said.

    More positive press this morning than I have seen in a long time. They really seemed to enjoy him.

    Taped it…Taylor was perfection! He looked wonderful, so handsome in his dark suit and light blue shirt…love him with no tie…Wow, he gets more knock out gorgeous everyday!

    He was.. his smiling, charming self…he did great in the interview! I saw lots of fans behind him outside in the rain! Holding up signs! The interview went very well…they wanted him to sing the song he’ll be performing, he didn’t…just wiggled and grinned without singing…I think he wasn’t prepared to sing the song yet…but knowing him, that big ole southern tease… as he can only do!

    I have at least 15 google alerts today about him being on Broadway. Funny…NY Post and NY Times…Cbb and I KNEW something was up with that!

    I personally think this is fantastic for his career…another interesting diversion toward his goals. Taylor can do anything he wants to do…he’s just GOT IT. Those who live around NY should go see Taylor, he’s counting on it I think, just from his comments! Loved the interview…Nobody does it better, dimples and all. Lord….:)

    I’m trying to work and I swear, this is HUGE, all I hear on my computer is CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, google alerts! Taylor is ALL over the Internet!! BRAVO!! Great move Taylor, brilliant, smart business move baby. I mean like…EVERYWHERE…this is wonderful.

    As for the time spent in this production? If anyone can do it, Taylor Hicks can. He comes on in the second act…IF this show was ALL about him, then I would say it would be VERY stressful, but Taylor has more energy on stage then anyone I’ve ever seen…ever. Then he leaves and goes to sing and perform with other bands? Like WOW.

    LOOK at the AI Tour, plus he shadowed LMBO! OMG…then came home and wrote and prepared for his CD in barely 6 weeks while doing all kinds of interviews and public appearances. THEN he went on a LONG solo tour, did TV and radio and everything inbetween….SO YEAH…Taylor is the Soul Patrol Superman…He can do it. He’ll be fantastic…:) This is awesome!!

    Cbb and figured the news had to be connected to what he sang the other night at the charity event…plus he mentioned Billy Joel…the NY Post and Times…and it hit us…that HE was going to be in NY. He was FULL of energy and in a great mood…there was something different about him that night…his voice was superb…and his musical genius on the guitar was splendid…he was just fired up…no doubt about it. He gave the hints…no kidding:) Broadway production we didn’t figure. I think we named most everything else. IF we had a few more days, we couldn’t figured it out, LOL.

    I’ve read a few things today. Many SP’ers have tickets up front for the first night of his debut…lucky girls!! I hope he has LOTS of support there. He said as much this morning on the Today show…SP coming to Broadway…that was very revealing. Wow…this is hot!

    Chickenandwaffles…I think the latest with Taylor, is fantastic. For many reasons. Taylor needs all the exposure that he can get. He was not promoted worth a damn. He was sabatoged! Now…he is everywhere…HOT HOT HOT!!! Also…we have no earthly idea what Taylor wants to do from time to time…maybe he had never thought about doing this kind of thing and when approached…it tickled his fancy. He does not owe me anything…I owe him for bringing me back to real songs, great performers and a place in time when music was great…had meaning…and then he gave me great concerts…Now, if he wants to venture off to do what he wants…so be it. It is none of my business…nor anyone else’s IMO. The BB is alive with those ordering tickets…we are also contemplating the same. From what I have seen and several SP that I have met…they are quite capable of paying for a flight to Manhattan…a cozy city hotel…shopping like a mad woman…and hitting the Broadway scene. Taylor is worth it!

    You are exactly correct about the producers motives, but Taylor is also using their show to up his public profile before he drops a new CD, so the use is mutually beneficial.
    Taylor has expressed an interest in acting, so this should be both fun and educational for him.
    Come on, the guy is gonna have a whole lot of fun with this! Didn’t he say in his book that he’s a shameless ham…well this will be a perfect opportunity to show off because its a fun part!
    Best of all, its an opportunity that still will allow him plenty of time to work on the CD, and provide a source of funds for the studio time he is going to have to buy.

    I agree with all you had to say… You all made some excellent points.

    PR is a funny thing, it can ruin you or it can get one noticed…in THIS case, it’s THE notice that Taylor wants and for good reason. He’s doing everything he’s ever thought of, as in the entertainment field…and why the hell not? He’s not old, he’s only 31 years old. Why should HE pass up the opportunity to be on Broadway in a musical where he’s very familiar with the theme and the moves? Taylor’s a natural born performer, whose love of the spotlight is what we loved about him on Idol. He’s different, that’s a gimme.

    I thnk this is a superb way for him to make some cash, while mingling with other performers in NY, he knows the ropes there and he’ll take advantage of it. He also said at the charity event that he had written the best music of his life, 30 songs…so his CD is coming along at HIS pace, not Clive Davis’s manic pace.

    I have no doubt whatsoever that Taylor’s fans will show up, they already are making plans…including myself and it’s not close to where I live, but hey, it’s a chance for me to see Taylor on the stage in his element. I dare say he’ll be super in that role.

    I’ve not read your blog, so I can’t really comment on what you’ve said, yet you said “concern” and that’s not something I am whatsoever, unless it applies to my getting there asap. to see the SP Superman as a Teen Angel, Lord have mercy…memories of his fully white tux from the AI finale in 2006…Nothing finer than Taylor in all white…what an angel. :)

    My father always bought us season tickets to the plays in Atlanta. I miss that! I went backstage and met some amazing actors…and we got to really deck out…these were good days…good nights…and after the plays we would eat at someplace fabulous. I would love to see Taylor in NY…a city that doesn’t sleep…a city where you can put on the glitz and glamour…and what I love most…FURS! THAT is my most favorite thing…doing the big city thing…Atlanta is a hot place for decking out…but, nothing like Manhattan. I have stayed at some amazing hotels there…and walked around the city late late late…and it is safe. Police on every corner. A city that is USED…Julianni did a great job of revitilizing the city and making it come back to life. Just reminds me of older Atlanta…I love the jeans thing…but, prefer the after five clothing. Now, I will admit that they are out there in Atlanta…just need to get back into that groove…Ritz Carlton is awesome…bands, dancing…and there are places that have dance bands and a huge dance floor. Does anyone here live near or in a big city that has that type of atmosphere?

    If you love the KY Derby, don’t forget the Preakness….It starts in like 15 minutes I think…I’m taping it. Big Brown is the favorite and if he wins of course, he’ll be in the Triple Crown…this would be fantastic. Cbb and I come from a family that loves horses…So, all of this is very special for us. Lets hope it’s a safe race today and all’s well.

    Cbb…Yes, those were great memories. I thought of the last play I saw, “Buddy Holly” at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Amazing production, I was standing much of the time, singing and dancing. It was like HE was really performing. Anyway, NY is a fantastic city…I have very fond memories of it and the times I’ve been there. Hey, who can forget, Sex & The City and Big? Wow. Wanna see the film, with Carrie and Big sparking up the screen!! Have a good day everybody! :)

    At Ulta Cosmetics…they have a perfume package…from Sex and the City (maybe it is Carey Bradshaw)…??? Anyway, you get two free tickets to see it…unless they are sold out…I did not ask about it…we are definately going if I have to camp out for the tickets. My daughter is watching and waiting for the news to come out on when and where…we are so excited that Big is gonna be on it.

    I had 8 horses at one time…in my backyard. I must have been NUTS! We did everything from hunter/jumper to dressage. The three day eventing scared me…it is really physically challenging. They are expensive and so time consuming, but a great thing when raising children…keeps them out of trouble. My daughter fox hunts…TALLY HO! hee hee….. :)

    Hope you were able to see the Preakness, it was absolutely fabulous!! Big Brown is the most amazing horse and the Jockey who rides him is perfection. They won it by miles, it seemed. Big Brown has won five in a row! I taped it and plan on watching it again, now that I’m not so nervous about it, HA. Big Brown is the finest horse I’ve seen in years! What a burst of speed this beautiful creature has! What I wouldn’t give to ride him just once…He’s a gorgeous creature, that’s what he is. Reminds me of Taylor, if he was a horse…Hm hm.

    I was looking through all my saves and came across this…I swear, I don’t even recall seeing it…thought you’all might like to in case you haven’t? It was an Idol show on TV Guide, March 2007…Doesn’t he look just terrific? I adore that shirt! He’s so handsome…. As usual.

    He flew over to Itay on the 17th, saturday. The band went also Brian G., Felix, Josh, Boogie, and Brian Less. They will stop at various music festivals in the area and perform the last night on the ship. Then they will fly back apparently. Not sure just when the last night is but he supposed to be in Las Vegas on the 31st so hes going to be moving fast unless something changes. Then its on the Broadway for an opening is it the 6th or 7th? I would sell an arm to be there for that.

    When I spoke to Taylor (Finebaum show), he said he would be in Italy for two weeks and while there, play festivals, like Henry said…He suggested he would actually BE on the cruise, but, things have changed due to his part in Grease (YAY)….So I believe from what I’ve read, he flew there on May 17th. The cruise is a corporate affair…LUCKY people!! Wish we knew whare in Italy? I noticed tonight that QVC’s gold show is in Italy!! LIVE too!

    Well, not that anyone knows of Chill, nobody seems to know where the festivals are or anything. Sure hope we get a picture of two of where they are at. Felix’s myspace had the date listed at the 16th to the 22nd. But he didn’t get there that soon. Even if they stay another day or so they will be back in plenty of time.

    Esme is right…she has the goods on these baldy freaks / fans…that’s FOR sure. There are some inside the SP that are luke warm and have proved it over and over again by the dissing and lack of support for what Taylor has accomplished and or never being happy with anything he does… It never seems to be enough for this certain group of people.

    IF I were to publish what I know, it would be far too shocking! I adore Taylor and have always supported him…As most know, I do stand up for him in his right to have his OWN life, without interference from these people who apparently DON’T have one and don’t like seeing the loyalty we demonstrate…to heck with them… is how I feel.

    With certain “fan sites” that allow for inapproriate behavior toward Taylor, is well…rediculious. But there are some owners of these so called fan sites that use it as a business and have no interest in Taylor or his fans. They are users. That’s a fact and it’s a shame. It’s the loyal fans of Taylor’s who are constantly talked about and that’s because these sorts can’t stand the loyalty, they breed jealousy and envy.

    On another note…this blog is ALL for Taylor and it’s such a pleasure to be here. Taylor has so much going for him, nothing will stop his honest to goodness fans from supporting and enjoying him… his music or whatever he does. He’s the best and so are the fans who really care! Cheers!

    Wow! So many posts…so little time! I am remodeling a house. *sigh* and I am gonna flip it. I am worn slap out! Have to laugh at this one…I could not find the hot water heater.     I’m thinking maybe she just missed it, but it would be interesting if it weren’t.

    Fine by me that they put up the all time big seller of the century up there but to do it the way they did was just wrong. If they were going to put up the best sellers, then Clay should have been in there.

    Thanks for the Video from Fox, Mobile (AL). When I posted the message earlier about it, I wasn’t sure where it would be aired, it was great to see it (Saw it on It’s A Soul Thing) and my Mobile cousin wrote that Taylor was on. Part Two is on tomorrow night!

    American Idol makes me sick. The deal is what it’s been from the beginning. They are NOT hard to figure. The label and management pay the radio stations to play the songs, like baldy and the rest of them actually. No matter if they are good singers or not…Baldy is in a class all his own, he SUCKS.

    Taylor wasn’t in that mix. They think selling CD’s is what’s its all about, it’s not. Taylor said he’s not a flavor of the month and he isn’t. Baldy didn’t win it, didn’t have the fans to even get him TO the final, LMAO. Baldy’s a joke, he sucks, his voice stinks and he’s bought and paid for. Might as well not mince words here. Davis, AI and all the reet of those morons can lie all they want, they pay to play. THEY cannot change their spots, no way, no how.

    Okay…that’s it from me. Back to the professional musician, song writer (real one), performer, all around celebrity, the one whose opening his OWN club…the one who’ll be here when all those other has beens who can’t sing a note on key will be long gone…THANK goodness for REAL music and for Taylor Hicks, the REAL deal, the ONE who WON it. Yeah Taylor, enjoy some delicious wine babe, you are the best, you deserve the best. :) and SO do we and we have it…..:) Night girls.

    This is what I read just now.. on a Taylor Hicks fansite…the author of the message described last night on American Idol….

    “When they were showing a “the boxing” segment at the beginning they said ” American Idol breeds superstars” They showed Kelly C, Carrie U., and ….Chris Daughtry.”

    How sad, how disrespectful to Taylor, the most versatile performer and entertainer they’ve ever had on the show…and he’s only just begun to explore what he can do. AI has finally proved what they truly are, they are truly nothing at all.

    Hope Taylor’s enjoying his experience in Italy and will come back with some good interviews while he was there! Look what all he’s got in front of him when he arrives back. WOW. We need reports! Wish we had a cellcert going on in Italy!! LOL. :)

    I believe what they said Jeanni was that the American Idol TITLE bred superstars and then show Chris’s picture as if he were one of the title winners. Piece of shit.
    Then tonight , I never watch the cbs news but someone had left the tv on and I heard them begin a spot about AI and how winning didn’t mean success.
    And the only one they actually talked too, was guess who, Chris Daughtry. It really seems like they have been pushing his face out there the last few days maybe because of the positive press Taylor got. Anyway, Chris mumbles something about real talent and karaoke singers and then they end by showing Taylors CD and talking about it “flopping” and something about him and others being forgotten.
    A shortened version of this spot showed up in google alerts. One thing that is kind of funny is that they said “Hicks said” when it really was Chris that said that. They screwed it up.
    They made such a point of Taylor and others being forgotten that I think this once I will leave a comment. I need for them to know that he has not been forgotten.

    Then I had the first of AI on and Ryan comes on and tells me they have received 93,000,000 votes . I am simply not buying that. Their ratings have been down and they almost double their votes from last year? Doesn’t compute. I really don’t care how many votes they get but I just don’t think I believe it. If there is any mention of Taylor someone will have to let me know, I can’t watch Archelata even one more time.

    Those assholes! There has never been a male talent like Taylor. I voted for Clay and think his voice is great…but, Taylor wins over Clay hands down, IMO. All the rest have been MADE by AI and payola. Daughtry is nothing more than a puppet… I saw CD up close at the AI concert in Birmingham, the big talent is not there. I know some may like him, however, he is no where near Taylor Hicks! To compare, which all the trolls get snarky when the comparison comments are made, yet it is our right to RESPOND. I have heard the most ignorant comments like…MOVE ON…when it is THEY that need to move on. When AI and TPTB quit dissing Taylor…THEN and only THEN will I freakin move on! They started it…and they just can’t let go…well, too bad, Taylor Hicks won American Idol…and Chris Daughtry did not win. He did not come in second or third…He was FOURTH! I am sure that Elliot and Kat are just shaking their heads with disgust. Those low down dirty rats!

    CBB, you have a point.
    For a time, I was hoping that Taylor would be on AI this year, just for the selfish reason of a chance to see him on my tv. But then after he was more visible and the Grease news came out I really didn’t care if he was or not. Now I think it was really good that he wasn’t on. As long as they keep spreading the news that he is a flop, he may be better off not being on the show. Its really not important if hes ever on it again.

    What got me a little bothered tonight was that the piece showed up on a national night time news show. Of course it was a fluff piece and not important to them but it was just a bad piece full of errors and omissions. Not just about Taylor but others as well. Journalists are so lazy anymore that it really bothers me. And the no one cares bothers me, right, wrong, or in between, people , quite a few of them, still do care about TH. But I realize that very few people cared about their “news” report so no harm, just annoying as all hell.

    The second part of that interview sounds like it was a good one. I’m looking for a link.
    Heres one tidbit, He sent Simon a Soul Patrol t-shirt and Simon sent it back. Ain’t he a sweetie?
